Is there a minimum age requirement for visiting Sand River Valley

Sand River Valley welcomes children older than 13 years who can comfortable handle a rifle

Sand River Valley is exclusive use only and the entire camp is yours for the duration of your hunting safari

Your stay includes all meals, soft drinks, local beer, wine and spirits as well as all activities and airport transfers to and from property.  Exclusions are flights (domestic and international), special request alcoholic beverages, taxidermy, dipping and shipping,  gratuity for Professional Hunters and Camp Staff

Yes we have existing relationships with several outstanding taxidermists including Life-Form Taxidermy who prepares most of client’s trophies. 

Yes, we will personally collect you from the airport at arrival and return you to the airport after your unforgettable trip

Yes, we will send you all the documentation you require to travel to South Africa with your hunting rifles and we will personally facilitate their clearance at OR Tambo with you

South Africa has recently implemented the SMART border control system which requires all foreign travellers arriving in South Africa to submit an online customs declaration pre-arrival.  We will send you a link to complete the declaration.  Should you not complete the declaration pre-arrival,  it could delay your transit through the airport

Sand River Valley is a comfortable 2.5 hour journey from the airport

Yes, we operate a Big 5 Private Game Reserve immediately adjacent to the hunting grounds and daily safaris are available if you decide not to hunt (also available for observers).  We also offer guided safari walking in the Big 5 area.  Gym and wellness spa are available to all our guests

Sand River Valley is in a malaria free area.  We recommend consulting your local travel clinic for guidance on any vaccinations which may be required Gym and wellness spa are available to all our guests

Yes, 24 hour turn around time laundry services are available

Yes, good Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms and the common area

Depending on the season you will need warm outfits for the winter evenings which can drop to 5°C.  Daytime temperatures can range from 15-32°C.  Neutral colours or camouflage are best for hunting and a sturdy pair of walking boots is essential.
